About Michigan Paddle Events
How we started,
Ben, who lives on the west side of Michigan had an idea of having a whitewater kayaking event in Petoskey, MI. on the Bear River. Being that we have ran this river in the past we decided that we would get a group of whitewater kayakers and see who made it down the river with us all starting at the top and racing to the bottom. As we started planning the event we realized that we had an opportunity to bring more kayakers to the river, and as a community, give back to the environment by benefiting the local watershed council.
What we do,
On May 19th 2018 we met our goals. We created a growth-rich and friendly community of whitewater kayakers in Michigan from Detroit to Lansing, out to Grand Rapids, and up to Traverse City.
May 10th-12th 2019 we held the Second Annual Bear River Fest. This time teaching swift-water rescue to first responders, Being featured in magazines, Interviews on the radio, Podcast, Boat demos from vendors, and amazing sponsors who donated gear for the winners. We were able to donate to the Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council, the organization that helped build Bear River Park.
